Best music videos for 2007 so far

Two music videos have made an impression on me so far this year.

In Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Me and My Imagination” the vivid, disco-y visuals match the song’s playful mood to a tee. The director, Nourizadeh Nima, was not Ellis-Bextor’s first choice to direct the video… (Wikipedia has more.)

Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” has the band looking like complete tools in their black leather outfits. But it’s the featured stock footage and how it’s turned into a tremendously powerful, thought-provoking visual when accompanied by the (pseudo— OK, we get it) angst-ridden chorus that grabs the viewer’s attention.

The video was directed by the band’s own turntablist, Joe Hahn — you can read more about it on Wikipedia. (There’s also a ‘making of’ video on YouTube but it’s of little value.)

Two music videos, the one will cheer you up, the other one will depress you; both are great.
