Friendster Blogs -- worth a look

Friendster Blogs - Powered by TypePadNews broke a couple of days ago that popular networking site Friendster has added blog functionality to their service, under the name Friendster Blogs.

Friendster Blogs comes with three fee-based packages (Basic, Plus and Pro at $4.95, $8.95 and $14.95 per month respectively — yearly discounts available), but they also have a free package available (it’s supported by ads on top of your pages). And here’s where the interesting stuff comes.

Since Friendster Blogs is basically a rebranded TypePad offering, you can use the free package to test-drive the TypePad weblog engine.

Play with their cool WYSIWYG post editor (better than Blogger’s even), the easy and useful TypeLists feature (real word example: here, right column), etc.

Here’s an example of a free Friendster blog. Finally note that the URI to your blog is of the following form (underlined parts are picked by you when signing up for the Friendster Blogs service):
http://username.blogs.friendster.com/blogname/
Worth a look if you’re interested in TypePad.

  1. Ironically, Friendster fired one of their developers last August for mentioning the company several times in her blog.
