Hi, I’m Konstantinos Christidis, 26, an undergraduate student at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Course of Electronics & Computer Science) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. You can reach me via email.
In my spare time, I keep myself busy by:
- doing web development work (XHTML/CSS, as well as WordPress hacking/tweaking) and staying updated on the latest technologies (currently tinkering with Objective-C) — as of mid-2007, I’m not accepting any new client work until I’m done (or nearly done) with my degree
- (micro)blogging and keeping track of the latest trends on the Intarweb
- messing with audiogear — current inventory includes: Creative Labs NOMAD Jukebox 3 [20GB] (review) • iPod 3G [10GB] • Creative Labs MuVo TX FM [512MB] • Technics SL-PS770D CD deck • Meier Audio Porta Corda MkII portable amp • BeyerDynamic DT 440 headphones (frequency response graph)
Blogging & Me
- I first came in touch with blogs around 2000 when I followed a “Powered by Blogger” button on a Webby-nominated site. Soon afterwards I created this site and toyed with several other blog-related projects. Notable references include my collaboration with Pyra Labs / Blogger co-founder, Evan Williams, over at The End of Free (the site now lives here), a site dealing with the transition of Web services from free to fee (this was post-buble 1.0, pre-hype 2.0).
- On August ‘05, I created the HiFi Blog, a site that covered interesting news/reviews/deals from the portable audio market and a member of the 9rules network. The HiFi Blog has been featured on Gizmodo, Lifehacker, The Unofficial Apple Weblog, Download Squad, Digital Media Thoughts and numerous other respectable websites in the tech industry. I ran the site till November ‘06 when I sold it to move on with other projects.
Me elsewhere on the Web
- spotted.gr: my latest experiment.
- del.icio.us: where I archive all the interesting things I stumble upon online.
- Twitter: failed attempts at sounding witty.
- ClaimID: contains links to some of my personal online projects, as well as links to references and mentions of them elsewhere.
- Flickr: used to store screenshots of interest and pictures I take with my cellphone.
- Amazon.com wishlist & Amazon.co.uk wishlist: uhm, bribe me?
- popcult.gr: soon…
- last.fm: it’s supposed to give you a sample of the music I’m listening to these days but it actually doesn’t, since most of the listening sessions are performed with an iPod in hand.
- Finally, if the letters “F” and “P” tell you something, I’m user #46.
Tastes
Music: (sorted alphabetically): Amon Tobin (finally, some electronica I can hear), Boards of Canada (dreamy), Michelle Branch, Sugababes (yes, it’s hard to forget your teenage years okay?), The White Stripes (as witnessed live).
(Note that Michelle Branch has probably dropped her solo carreer for good and is now focusing entirely on her recently formed duo with Jessica Harp, “The Wreckers”, and the Sugababes really ain’t anything to talk about since Mutya Buena left in December 2005 …and you’ll see that I’m running two faves short.)
TV Shows (sorted alphabetically): my attention span is laughably short, which makes TV shows ideal for me (in contrast to movies — or books, which I hate with a vengeance). A mix of current and all-time faves includes: 24 (Jack Bauer: “It felt pretty personal when you killed my wife.” — 2×10 “5:00 PM – 6:00 PM“), Alias (Julian Sark: “Not a problem; my loyalties are flexible.” — 2×22 “The Telling“), Dexter (Dexter Morgan: “I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister.” — 2×02 “Waiting to Exhale“), Friends (Chandler Bing: “And Ross? Phone call for you today: Tom Jones. He wants his pants back!” — 5×11 “The One With All The Resolutions“), House, M.D. (Gregory House: “Pain makes us make bad decisions, fear of pain is almost as big a motivator.” — 2×21 “Euphoria (2)“), Just Shoot Me! (f-u-n), Lost (Dr. Marvin Candle: “Namaste. And good luck.” — 2×03 “Orientation“), Prison Break (only the 1st season of course), The O.C. (Seth Cohen: “Because inside my manly exterior beats the heart of a 14-year-old girl.” — 3×15 “The Heavy Lifting“), The Sopranos (Tony Soprano: “Yeah, but that’s where you’re wrong. You see out there it’s the 1990s but in this house it’s 1954.” — 1×11 “Nobody Knows Anything“), The West Wing (Toby Ziegler: “This conversation is surreal.” — 1×21 “Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics“), Veronica Mars (take your pick).
They Have Said About Me… (Not to be taken seriously —obviously.)
